Learning Objectives
After completing this course, the reader should be able to:

  1. Understand the most efficacious strategies for smoking cessation.
  2. Recognize the need to screen patients for tobacco use and provide at least brief treatment for all smokers.
  3. Become familiar with recommendations from Smoking Cessation: Clinical Practice Guidelines, published by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research.
